The first group of people to inhabit the Philippine Islands were the Negritos
who arrived around 25,000 years ago. They arrived in the Philippines by walking through the land bridges that connected Philippines to the rest of Asia.
were small and were nicknamed "Pygmys" by the first researchers who discovered their remains. They were dark-skinned, and they had small noses, big eyes and curly hair. They barely wore any clothing, the only pieces of garment they used to cover themselves were animal skin and leaves. They obtained their food from fishing, hunting and harvesting fruits from trees. They had no permanent place to live in, so they used tree leaves to cover themselves against the heat of the sun or rain. Their weapons were made of wood and stone, and were usually spears. Around 7,000 years ago, the Indones arrived in the Philippine Islands through huge boats from South East Asia, namely Indonesia. The Indones
were composed of 2 groups. The first one's population mainly had white skin, big foreheads, and tall nose bridges. The second one's population had small bodies, thick lips, small noses, tanned skin, and big eyes. Their culture was far more advanced than those of the Negritos
. They had permanent homes, advanced weaponry and small farms. They also obtained the knowledge in order to create fire, which gave them a major advantage in developing.
